Music legend Paul Simon has announced a June tour less in the name of self-promotion, and more in the name of conservation.

The 75 year old music man, who is still going strong after all these years, released his 13th studio album last year entitled “Stranger To Stranger”.

Simon announced the news after participating in a Durham, North Carolina biodiversity conference, sponsored by the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation.

The tour announcement comes as no surprise, as Simon has been vocal about his conservation awareness. In December, he penned a poignant essay in the New York Times, revering E.O. Wilson’s recent book, “Half-Earth: Our Planet’s Fight For Life”. The book puts forth the idea that humans must devote half the surface of the Earth to nature to ensure the planet’s health.

Proceeds from the 17-city June tour will be donated to assist the author’s biodiversity foundation.

Despite this, Simon has made it clear the actual concert itself will be all about the music. He told conservation news website Mongabay that fans won’t come thinking they’ll be lectured to, but that he won’t mind having Wilson’s book and Half-Earth caps available.
