Billie Eilish Releases Surprise Single, “Guitar Songs”

Billie Eilish has surprised listeners with two brand new songs via the single “Guitar Songs”.

In an email sent out to fans, Billie announced, “SURPRISE!!!!! “Guitar Songs” !! featuring “TV” and “The 30th” is out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finneas and i really wanted these to be yours as soon as possible. so here they are!! performing “TV” on tour was such a highlight for us too, so we took the audio from the first night we played it in manchester and put it in the song. i get shivers every time i hear it. hope you love the songs and thank you for letting us share our music with you.”

The two tracks are incredibly stripped down, acoustic, beautifully emotional and honest. In “TV” she bellows, “I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer. Maybe I should get some sleep. Sinking in the sofa while they all betray each other. What’s the point of anything?”

A standout line is definitely, “The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial while they’re overturning Roe V. Wade.”
Toward the end of “TV”, you can hear excited fans singing along with the gorgeous track.

“The 30th” addresses an accident and is tough to not get emotional while listening. Billie sings, “When you’re staring into space, it’s hard to believe you don’t remember it. Woke up in the ambulance. You pieced it all together on the drive. I know you don’t remember calling me. But I told you even then, ‘you look so pretty’. In a hospital bed you were scared and so was I.”

These two tracks are a poignant reminder of what an incredibly talented, poignant songwriter Billie Eilish is, and how paired with her brother FINNEAS, they are a musical force and voice of our times.
