Rage Against the Machine frontman, Zack de la Rocha, skipped the band’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction to attend a protest in support of Palestine. The induction ceremony took place on Friday November 4th and was televised live for the first time. Aside from the Spinners, RATM was the only band to be inducted this year with most artists in the 2023 class being solo acts. Notable mentions include Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, and the father of hip hop – DJ Kool Herc.
The band’s only member to attend the ceremony was guitarist Tom Morello. Accepting the induction on behalf of the band, he used the platform as a continued call for action. In his speech he encouraged, “If you are a student, start an underground newspaper. If you’re an anarchist, throw a brick. If you are a soldier or policeman, follow your conscience and not your orders. If you’re disappointed you didn’t get to see Rage Against the Machine, form your own band and let us hear what you have to say.”
The march in support of Palestine took place this past weekend in Washington, D.C. and was a powerful call for ceasefire. For several weeks, Israel has bombarded Palestine’s city of Gaza, leaving thousands of civilians dead in their wake. Thus far, the United States Government has passed a $14 billion dollar military aid package to Israel, which is a stark comparison to the $100 million humanitarian aid package that President Biden pledged to Palestine in October. The D.C. march was attended by hundreds of thousands of folks and was organized by several pro-Palestinian groups.
In a post via Twitter, activist and videographer Sunny Singh remarks, “300,000 of us marched on DC today in support of Palestinian self-determination and called for an end to Israel’s genocide. Cell service tanked the livestream but I ran into Zack de la Rocha who came out for the march…We talked for a while about how this is a tipping point in history. People are waking up to how interconnected the fight for liberation is, from Ferguson to Gaza.”
Of course, RATM is no stranger to referencing injustice and conflict in their lyrics.
In their track “Mic Check” from album The Battle of Los Angeles, Rage references Gaza and Intifada, the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation that took place in 1987.
Rage Against The Machine cancelled their tour last year when Zack de la Rocha tore his Achilles tendon during the band’s second show. Aside from a surprise guest appearance at Run The Jewels’ Los Angeles concert last month, de la Rocha has not taken to the stage. It seems that RATM is letting the music speak for them in the urging of today’s fans to use it as a call to action.

Immensely talented singer-songwriter Bryan Adams has released a powerful anthem for peace entitled “What If There Were No Sides At All”.
In the same contemplative vein as classics like “Imagine” and “Masters of War”, Adams reflects, “What if there were no sides at all… Just a big blue ball – floating in space. It’s a beautiful world – but a dangerous place. It’s perfectly round – it’s perfectly clear. There are no sides – on a perfect sphere.”
The gentle lyrics pair perfectly with a strumming acoustic guitar and added hints of electric notes thrown in.
The equally impactful music video is made to not be reflective of any location, but is meant to represent conflicts in the world.
In the video’s YouTube description, the skillful songsmith explains, “This is an anti-war peace song written with aim to provoke thought and perhaps even encourage governments to sit down and talk peace. At the moment there is only escalating division and death – a result of the billions of dollars spent by governments to fund these endless wars.”
The video begins with Adams walking through war-torn streets carrying a white flag of peace. Through the video’s progression, Adams continues strolling with the white flag in hand next to a border wall topped with barbed wire. During the chorus, the shot pans to a forest and mountain scape where listener can see the recognizable flag of peace flying proud.
The video finishes with the quote, “The first casualty of war is the truth”. The quote has been referenced many times throughout history in times of calamity.
The Canadian superstar’s unforgettable hits include the likes of “Run To You”, “Summer of 69” and “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)”.
He is currently on tour with the legendary Joan Jett in support of his latest album, So Happy It Hurts, which was released in 2022.
Be sure to follow the link below to give “What If There Were No Sides At All” a listen.
“What If There Were No Sides At All” lyrics :
What if there were no sides at all
What if there were no sides at all
Just a big blue ball – floating in space
It’s a beautiful world – but a dangerous place
It’s perfectly round – it’s perfectly clear
There are no sides – on a perfect sphere
What if there were no sides at all
What if there were no sides at all
Don’t make me hate – don’t make me choose
Why should one side win and the other side lose
I don’t understand – why take sides at all
There are no sides – on this big blue ball
We tell ourselves it’s the stand we take
But there’s no sides except the ones we make
What if there were no sides at all
What if there were no sides at all

Brooklyn-based artist Romi O dropped her second single today entitled “M2M”.
The captivating track begins with the lyrics, “Am I making a mouse into a mountain? Am I overreacting? Am I acting strangely? Am I making a fool out of me?”
The song effectively captures a feeling we can all relate to at one point or another. It musically paints a poignant reflection of ourselves, our choices, and thoughts on navigating through life.
“M2M” combines an electronic groove with guitar riffs and layering percussion. The catchy song is an absolutely memorable track that makes the listener immediately want to play it again. The song steadily and seamlessly progresses into a bit of a musical breakdown, then key change. It is structured masterfully, yet is wonderfully simplistic at the same time.
In the accompanying music video, Romi O’s personality shines through. The colorful video pairs perfectly with the upbeat vibe of the song. The video begins with a simplistic look and a neutral background, then changes through several makeup and outfit swaps that sport brave colors and a gender-fluid confidence. The bold, alternating bright colors of the background make a perfect background for the song’s unique sound.
The moniker Romi O is a new project for the talented musician, whose name is Romi Honach. Her other projects include Ghost Funk Orchestra, as well as co-founding the band PowerSnap.
Romi O’s debut album is right around the corner. Stay tuned for upcoming details from this amazing emerging artist, and be sure to give the new single a listen below.

With 42 Grammy nominations to her credit, this award struck a special chord for the singer.
The talented songwriter expressed her joy through an Instagram story stating, “All Too Well is the song I’m most proud of, out of anything I’ve written. The fact that it’s nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys, an award I’ve never won, that honors songwriting… it’s momentous and surreal.”
She continues with a reflection on calling her co-writer for the song, Liz Rose. “Just got off the phone with @lizrosemusic, my co writer on ATW, and reminisced about how we started writing together when I was 14. She believed in me and we are nominated together now. It’s just so cute I can’t cope.”
The original version of “All Too Well” was released on Taylor’s 2012 album, Red.
Red (Taylor’s Version), which re-released the album with Taylor’s new versions and her control housed the song in its entirety.

Billie Eilish has surprised listeners with two brand new songs via the single “Guitar Songs”.
In an email sent out to fans, Billie announced, “SURPRISE!!!!! “Guitar Songs” !! featuring “TV” and “The 30th” is out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finneas and i really wanted these to be yours as soon as possible. so here they are!! performing “TV” on tour was such a highlight for us too, so we took the audio from the first night we played it in manchester and put it in the song. i get shivers every time i hear it. hope you love the songs and thank you for letting us share our music with you.”
The two tracks are incredibly stripped down, acoustic, beautifully emotional and honest. In “TV” she bellows, “I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer. Maybe I should get some sleep. Sinking in the sofa while they all betray each other. What’s the point of anything?”
A standout line is definitely, “The internet’s gone wild watching movie stars on trial while they’re overturning Roe V. Wade.”
Toward the end of “TV”, you can hear excited fans singing along with the gorgeous track.
“The 30th” addresses an accident and is tough to not get emotional while listening. Billie sings, “When you’re staring into space, it’s hard to believe you don’t remember it. Woke up in the ambulance. You pieced it all together on the drive. I know you don’t remember calling me. But I told you even then, ‘you look so pretty’. In a hospital bed you were scared and so was I.”
These two tracks are a poignant reminder of what an incredibly talented, poignant songwriter Billie Eilish is, and how paired with her brother FINNEAS, they are a musical force and voice of our times.
Be sure to check out the beautiful new tracks.

Ukrainian band Antytila (АНТИТІЛА) has joined with Ed Sheeran to release a remix of Sheeran’s track “2step”.
Antytila previously made headlines when they requested Ed Sheeran to perform remotely from Kyiv to benefit the Concert For Ukraine, which took place at the end of March.
The band stated via TikTok, “Through music, we want to show the world that Ukraine is strong and unconquered. We’ll fight and sing for victory in front of the whole world that supports us.”
Now the artists have officially teamed up for the remix which will drop this coming Monday May 2nd.
Antytila has contributed a new section to the song, which highlights the need to hold on to hope whilst being apart from loved ones. Antytila frontman Taras Topolya told The Times (UK) that his lyrics were inspired by the distance from his family during the conflict. Tapas, who is married to fellow Ukrainian singer, Alyosha has been apart from his family since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February. Alyosha has relocated to the United States with their three children.
Three of the members of Antytila have been fighting on the front lines in Ukraine, while two others have been working as civil volunteers in Kyiv helping citizens find the resources they need. Topolia has most recently been fighting and working as a paramedic in and around the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.
Antytila was formed in 2007 and has released six studio albums. Their plans for a summer tour in 2022 were halted upon Russia’s invasion.
Be sure to check out the remix of “2step” when it drops on Monday.
